Round three today of Zone Conferences! Today we were in the Yakima Stake Center with our 4 southern zones. Seventy-three missionaries today! The good does not stop! We had a great day with these missionaries. We welcomed everyone and recognized the new missionaries and were sad about those who will depart before we meet again in zone conferences in January. It really is heartbreaking to consider losing some of our best, most experienced Elders and Sisters. They will go home changed and ready to change the world in other ways and places. We talked again about the full Work of Salvation and the variety of ways we can help others come unto Christ and be prepared to do what He asks of us. Missionary work is so much more than it used to be when we just knocked doors day in and day out. Our missionaries focus on how we can effectively help others in a variety of ways.
We talked today again about Family History work and how we can use the My Family booklets and family search pass along cards in contacting. Please search this blog for the post a few weeks ago about the My Family booklets. I told everyone this week that you parents are preparing them for your missionaries for Christmas. They were THRILLED and are excited to get them. Please please get to work on them as soon as you can!
Here are the missionaries talking about ways to use Family History in their work:President and Sister Reynolds from our Mission Presidency joined us today: Elders Archibald and Smith taught about OYMs again today. They shared a simple way to have success when you Open Your Mouth: Share a compliment, be happy, ask questions, learn their name and use it, and share your testimony. The acronym for this spells CHANT. I added we should always Be Enchanting! Then everyone shared their favorite OYMs. Some are pretty creative!
For lunch today we were served delicious enchiladas, chips and salsa, salad, rolls and brownies. YUM. Thanks to the Yakima 6th Ward Relief Society for making and serving this fabulous meal. Here are our Relief Society angels. We really appreciate the kindness they share in helping to keep so many missionaries so happy and filled up to the brim with good food! The missionaries sang their thanks:
By the end of the day, we covered everything on the agenda. Testimony meeting was wonderful. I love hearing the advice given by those who will be leaving next to those who are just arriving. The one thing everyone seemed to repeat: don’t waste a minute of your time here, it passes so quickly.
We closed the meeting with a Beautiful musical number by these lovely Sisters, who sang a wonderful arrangement of “I Stand All Amazed.”Then we quickly bid our farewells and cleaned up so everyone could get back to work. If these beautiful Sisters come to your door, you know you want to hear what they have to say! It’s life-changing!
