We all gathered at the Yakima Stake Center at about 11:30. Missionaries came from all over this area. We have 2 other transfer sites– in Goldendale and in Quincy, where others will meet their new companions. It’s a logistical nightmare of goodness. Cars, bedding, furniture, luggage, and missionaries go in every direction.
Inside the transfer meeting began with a rousing opening hymn: “I’ll Go Where You Want me to Go, Dear Lord.” Then all the new missionaries lined up in the front and introduced themselves, one by one. Then President Lewis read off each new companionship. If the companion was here in the meeting, they ran up to embrace their new “Trainee.” If the companion is waiting at one of the other sites, someone stood in for them to greet the new companion. It’s a very fun and exciting meeting. We love it.
