This is a bit what transfer prep looks like after the Assistants go home. Staring at the board for HOURS, All Week Long. We started on Monday and spent some time every day until by last night at bed time, things felt right. This morning they still felt right. At 7:00 a.m. President Lewis started making phone calls. He calls everyone receiving a new leadership call, or being released from one. That means changes with Zone Leaders, District Leaders, Sister Training Leaders, and all those who will be training new missionaries arriving next week.
The phone calls took 6 hours without a break. It’s pretty exciting to start sharing the transfer news. All the rest of those changing have to wait until tonight between 9:00 and 9:30 to hear if they’re being transferred, who their new companions will be and which areas they will be sent to. It’s a day for everyone to wait on pins and needles. It’s really so exciting. I couldn’t even sleep last night, just thinking about it.
It’s 10:33 p.m. right now and everyone should have received their news, and should be tucked into bed. Tonight the APs sent out a phone message to each zone with the changes in that zone and attached to that message is one from President Lewis with all the leadership changes. I’m sure there will be lots of emotions in missionary hearts tonight: sad to leave areas, excited to go to new areas, sad to leave good companions, excited to move on from challenging companions–a little bit of everything, I’m sure.
Tomorrow there will be lots of goodbyes and final testimonies in Sacrament meetings all over the mission. Then Monday, those departing will come to the Mission Home for their final days here. Tuesday the new arrivals will fly to us from the Mexico and Provo MTCs. And Wednesday, everyone will MOVE! Let the fun continue!
