Today I was invited to speak about Days for Girls at a Rotary International District convention held here in Yakima. 500 Rotarians came from Washington, Idaho, and Canada. I loved their theme: Service Above Self.Yakima has several Rotary Clubs who helped to host this wonderful event.Kirsten Monick and Mary Johnson have become involved in our Days for Girls work here in Yakima and they invited me to come tell the DfG story in one of the break out sessions. Several sessions went on throughout the morning where Rotarians came to learn about ways to help and serve out in the world. We had a full room of interested participants. After our session, we moved to a large general room where many had displays. Kirsten and Mary stayed to answer questions and give out information about how to become involved with Days for Girls. They were thrilled with the response!Days for Girls partners with Rotary organizations all over the world. Rotary International has selected Days for Girls as one of the non-profits they happily endorse and they will match funding when we work together in developing countries.
Thanks to Rotary, Polio has been eradicated. Thanks to Rotary, much good goes on at every level of our society. I enjoyed making some new friends and being involved with such good people. Thanks to Kirsten Monick for this invitation!
