This morning is the calm before the storm. This afternoon the departing missionaries come to the mission home. This is their LAST DAY here. We are pretending to be happy for them. They are pretending to be happy to leave. All this pretending leaves us all a mess.
We also have 69 missionaries moving to new areas this week, so today is a day for packing and goodbyes for many of them. When I was a missionary a million years ago, we called this “Transfer Trauma.” Things haven’t changed one bit!Elder Jimenez was thrilled to be reunited with his iPad, which has been locked away since the formation of the WYM last year. He’ll be taking it home with him tomorrow.Transfer Meeting:Farewell to Hermana Dee. Tomorrow she’ll be in Alaska. The Zillah and Sunnyside Elders showed up as we were leaving. Elder Criddle is turning in more baptismal forms. He and Elder Olson have had a great transfer in Zillah.
Now we are just waiting for the fun to begin this afternoon when all 14 of our departing missionaries arrive.
