At about 4:00 this afternoon, our 10 departing Sisters began to arrive at the Mission Home. They were brought by members from corners of our mission, far and near. The members here are so good to the missionaries. They love helping and spending time with them. And we are so grateful to them for their kindness and love.As Sisters arrived, we weighed each suitcase and packed and re-packed to keep everything under the 50 lb limit. Imagine fitting your entire life into 100 lbs plus a carry on! More missionaries and more farewells. Love from former companions:Transfer journals are a big deal. Everyone collects comments and love from fellow missionaries in these journals.Hand-pressed apple juice (8 lbs) made its way into a couple of these suitcases!African bracelets–a token to remember our sisterhood.More arriving and loving:Reunited with members from early in the mission:
“These are my daughters!”Companions: Tearful farewells. The APs arrive:Signing Transfer Journals:There was a good deal of love and of tears flowing in the Mission Home this afternoon while Pres Lewis finished interviewing the last 3 Sisters. These two wore these polka dot skirts on the first day they arrived in the mission 18 months ago. To celebrate their completed missions, they wore them again today.
How can we bear to lose 10 fabulous Sisters like these?? Tomorrow will be hard.
