Yesterday we had a FABULOUS Days for Girls event in Yakima at the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. We were hard at it from about 9:30 until after 4:00 p.m. Women kept coming and bringing finished parts and pieces. It was an amazing day of goodness and kindness.Marilyn Blanchard and Lori Sybouts from the Holy Family Church are our “Bag Ladies.” They and 6-8 other women make 100 bags for us every single month. We love them and how they contribute so generously. They are kind and good.Dan and his wife Benita and their dear friend, Terry spend hours every week sewing parts liners for girls they have grown to love. We have grown to love them.Tonya is our Panty Princess. Barbara from the local quilt group knows how to cut. She’s got skill with a blade!260 finished kits ready to load into my car. Wow. They just keep coming. Wow.Today a line from Matthew 25 kept going through my mind:
“I was naked and ye clothed me.” There are millions of girls in the world who do not have adequate (any) protection during their menstrual cycles. They are not allowed to be in school because of this. What we are doing will help clothe them and help them maintain their dignity every day of the month. They will be able to stay in school and be educated. 250 more lives will be different because of what did today. I am so happy.
