The Best Sloppy Joes Ever!

This fabulous recipe comes from Sister Marj Hart in Wenatchee.  She is almost 90 years old.  Her recipe has been a winner for generations!

Sloppy Joes

Serves 25
Combine in a crockpot:

  • 4 lbs browned hamburger
  • 2 qt. crushed tomatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 1 bunch celery, chopped

Add:

  • 1 cup catsup
  • ½ cup vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • salt & pepper

Cook for 4 hours in crockpot.

Serves 100
Combine in a crockpot:

  • 16 lbs browned hamburger
  • 1 gallon crushed tomatoes
  • 4 large onion
  • 8 green peppers, chopped
  • 4 bunch celery, chopped

Add:

  • 1 quart catsup
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • salt & pepper

Cook for 4 hours in a large roaster or multiple crockpots.
