Last night we had some special visitors drop by. Pres Lewis was a missionary in Switzerland, where he taught and baptized Norda Harder in 1975. She and her brother Brent with his wife Maryorie came to visit us! We had a fabulous evening catching up on our lives and activities.
This morning before they headed on their way, we had a great breakfast and more visiting. Then the mission journal came out and Pres Lewis read to us his entries about Norda and her baptism. I am what some might call a Journal Nazi. I believe in recording and preserving history as it happens. This is one of the reasons why. Sometimes our missionaries stare blankly at us and wonder when we talk about keeping in touch with people we taught on our missions so many years ago. We are OLD, and that is History, but sometimes our paths circle back around and our lives come together again. It’s a sweet thing when the books are opened and the details are remembered because we put them into print. That happened this morning.
I’m grateful for good friends and for written records of good friends!
Mosiah 1: 6 O my sons, I would that ye should remember that these sayings are true, and also that these records are true. And behold, also the plates of Nephi, which contain the records and the sayings of our fathers from the time they left Jerusalem until now, and they are true; and we can know of their surety because we have them before our eyes.
The same will be said of our journal accounts some day.
