We had a very special training today here at the Mission Home. Our 8 Sister Training Leaders came for a morning of instruction and discussion. These Sisters are an integral part of our mission and we love them.
Sister Training Leaders became a part of world-wide mission leadership in 2013, when the Missionary Department announced this addition to missionary organizations.
It’s hard to imagine a mission functioning without these Sister Leaders. I don’t think Pres Lewis would mind if I shared his notes, to give you a feel of the kind of work these Sisters do, and the incredible help they are to the missionaries they serve with. We met from 10:00 until 12:30, then served a delicious ladies luncheon: Steak salad, hot artisan bread, pink lemonade, and angel food cake with fruited sherbet for dessert. It was delicious.
The Steak Salad recipe is here:
Elder Call: Special Delivery!! He goes above and beyond. For dessert we served angel food cake with my favorite sherbet. Here’s how you make it:
Glorified Fruit Sherbet
Soften a carton of pineapple sherbet until you can fold in your favorite fruits. My favorites are cut strawberries or raspberries, bananas, pineapple tidbits, and/or blueberries. You can also add chopped pecans or coconut if you like. Refreeze. Soften slightly before serving. It’s perfect with angel food cake. It’s also good served in a parfait glass with 7-Up or Sprite poured over it.
It was a winner with these lovely ladies! Before leaving, I brought out my African gourd of bracelets from Mali. My friends in the villages there make these bracelets to support their families. I like to share them with the Sisters when they come. It’s a Sister thing.
