This morning we stayed here in town for interviews with our wonderful Yakima Zone (English). We have Stake Conference here, starting this afternoon.
Here is their best advice for a new missionary:
Elder Glancy and Elder Sorenson, serving in the Yakima Meadowbrook WardElder Glancy: Keep moving forward, even in hard times. You are on the Lord’s errand. Try your best to be Christ-like.
Elder Sorenson: Learn how to make and buy good food. (I’ve learned how to cook eggs.) Chose to be happy. Be okay with not knowing everything.
Elder Heaton and Elder Taylor, serving in the Yakima Randall Park WardElder Heaton: Follow the rules, obedience brings blessings, exact obedience brings miracles. Work hard. Stay optimistic.
Elder Taylor: Don’t stress, it’s over-rated. “Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt” (William Shakespeare). Always eat the dinner (unless you’re allergic).
Sister Wadman and Sister Field, Sister Training Leaders serving in the Yakima Ahtanum Creek and YSA WardsSister Wadman: Be OBEDIENT!! Overcome the natural man! Live in the moment. Push yourself and go outside of your comfort zone. That’s the only way you will become who God needs you to be.
Sister Field: Set goals. Say prayers. Work hard.
Elder Summit and Elder Rich, serving in the Yakima Summitview WardElder Summit: Read the Book of Mormon Every Day! Work hard at the small things (like prayer, being kind, cleaning up after yourself, studies, using your time wisely). Trust the other missionaries around you to help you.
Elder Rich: Take one day at a time. Enjoy the small things (other people, doing things you enjoy, happy moments), Have good prayers.
Elder Nicoll and Elder Ence, Zone Leaders serving in the Yakima Cottonwood Canyon and YSA WardsElder Nicoll: Come unto Christ now. Align your will with His. Be humble and loving to your trainer. Love EVERYONE! –missionaries, members, non-members, even the bashers.
Elder Ence: Stay in the moment. Don’t rush. Be you and establish good relationships with everyone you meet. Plan ahead, become a master of planning.
