Here’s our new group, all together for the first time. We arrived at the Mission Home just in time for dinner, same menu as last night. All delicious. The office couples joined us tonight. After dinner we had our orientation meetings with them downstairs. When I realized that I was the ONLY one not wearing purple this evening, I changed!Ready to begin!Sister Schilling, our Wonderful Mission Nurse from Ellensburg, joined us and explained to the missionaries how she helps.Sister Call and Sister Royal explained their jobs as the mission secretary. The Royals head to the Provo MTC this week!Elder Call and Elder Royal did the same. Some of these jobs (managing referrals) will change when we get Smart Phones. They also take care of the reports and the mail.Elder and Sister Pendlebury explained their jobs with the finances, housing and vehicles. Then we had a special guest, Beth Kecskes, our dear friend and recent convert. She shared her conversion story and explained to the missionaries what it was like working with the missionaries who taught her. Beth is a shining light to those around her.Beth’s son, Luke. Future missionary. He’ll be 8 this year! While Pres Lewis finished interviewing each new missionary, the APs and I introduced the WYM and our Lewis family. We ended our evening together with a simple testimony meeting and family prayer. Then we put them to bed to get some rest. It’s been a long day for all of us!Everyone got their WYM service t-shirts and temple recommend card holders.
As everyone settled into bed, I found the APs in the kitchen, unloading the dishwasher for me! Love these Elders!
Then we all went to work figuring out the companions for each of these 4 new missionaries. We share our impressions and review their applications and information about each of them. Then we think long and hard about each companionship and then we pray for confirmation when we think we have it right. When it’s right, we know.We were finished by 11:00 p.m. and we all headed to bed to prepare for tomorrow, another big day!
